Application Information

WAITING LIST

There is an extensive waiting period to receive housing. Three to seven years depending upon size and type of unit. Applicants that have successfully completed an application and received an acceptance letter can check their status on the waiting list online here.

UPDATES TO APPLICATIONS

It is the applicants responsibility to notify the Westwego Housing Authority in writing within 10 days of any address changes, household member changes and changes in income. Notification of application, waiting list and acceptance will be sent to the addresses listed on the application. Failure to update your current information could remove you from the housing process.

CRIMINAL HISTORY REPORT

Although you do not need a CRIMINAL HISTORY REPORT to apply for housing, you will need to obtain one before you are housed. Applicants and family members ages 17 years and older will be sent to the Westwego Police Department to retrieve a screening at no cost to the applicant.

PROVIDING FALSE OR INCOMPLETE INFORMATION

If you give false or incomplete answers to question about your income, family size or similar matters, Westwego Housing Authority will seek eviction, back charges and possibly criminal prosecution. Information you provide must be truthful, accurate and up-to-date at all times. Westwego Housing Authority verifies all income sources and amounts. Be sure to report all changes in income or family size in writing within 10 days.
